2019 San Pietro: Gavi
Im so glad I found this wine. It goes with every Pasta&Veggie Sautee Creation™ I can make- which is usually a combination of all the things I have forgotten about in my fridge. This lil cutie is perfet for it all. Fresh, mineral driven structure matched with elegance, well-balanced acidity, and a long finish and medium bodied.
2019 François Chidaine: Sauvignon Touraine
Francois Chidaine is a master winemaker, notably his white wines, who meticulously maintains his vinyard with Biodynamic practices, rotating cover crops, and soil preservation to list a few. This Sauvignon Blanc is dry and fruity with a clear and shiny color. Floral nose that progressively reveals a delicate bouquet of citrus fruits. The palate balances a beautiful freshness with fleshy
fruitiness. Bright and zingy, with classic sweetpea, apple and grapefruit flavors.
2019 Maison Noir: "OPP" Pinot Gris
O.P.P. (Other People's Pinot) From the producer's own website "The 2019 Other People’s Pinot Gris is like Juggling Apples, Pears and Peaches while dancing to Pharell's "Happy" - enthralling, upbeat, fresh and deluxe." They nailed it!
2019 Delinquente: Screaming Betty Vermentino
I mean... the label, amiright? Love it.
Initially this babe smells fruity and sweet but the palate comes through with lemon and crunchy acidity.
This is the wine for you if you like tart dry acidic whites that will entertain your mouth to no end. I'm drinking this one with rich foods.
NV Mongarda: Col Fondo Prosecco
Natural bubs, y'all. A courageous, rebel wine, elegant for a brief spell, then sharp and rough. It encapsulates the joy and simplicity of the terroir. Wine Enthusiast gave this 91 points.
2019 Sans Liege: Groundwork Counoise
I love this producer's choice of descriptors for this great wine, "agua de jamaica, young violets, rhubarb, white pepper, plum skin, cranberry cocktail"... I'll take that vacation, yes please! Maybe a summery red but in this weather I would like to be transported. I'm turning up the heaters and I will be drinking this chilled while I sit near the young palm I got at Lowes.
NV La Petit Marquise: Brut Rose
Made from 100% Cabernet Franc, fine, lively bouquet with fresh, red-berry fruit aromas of wild strawberries and cherries.
Lively initial impression and good aromatic intensity. Well-balanced on the palate, following through with a fresh, wonderfully subtle aftertaste.
2019 Benedek: Pinot Noir
Hungarian Pinot Noir?!
This is such a surprising treat from a great winemaker, Péter Benedek, in the Mátra in Hungary. This wine is spicy and fruity, with flavors of ripe cranberries, sour cherries and caraway. Spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts. Fermented and aged for 7 months in stainless steel. Organic farming, low sulfites added. Unfined, with rough filtration only.
2019 Ch. Del la Selve: Coteaux de l'Ardèche "Petite Selve"
Cinsault, Grenache and Syrah. This is a "vin de copain", a wine to drink with friends. Intensely aromatic, expressing red fruit, spices and licorice. In the mouth it is fruit forward and versatile with soft and fine tannins.
2018 Traslapiedra: Malbec de Paraje Altamira
Another great label to draw us in. Luckily this is a great wine too. This natural-style Malbec is fermented with native yeast and aged entirely in concrete. It is from the Parajes Altamira, or, Marine Desert, in the Uco Valley, Argentina. Deposits from an ancient river present in the vinyards. Wild berry on the nose; crisp, attractive palate with flavors of red plum, currant and cranberry. Tight, focused finish.
2019 Cara Sur: Criolla
Another gem from Argentina, this Criolla is rugged and earthy while glimmers of fruit and strawberry shine between menthol and herbacious hints. Yes please!
2019 La Calla: Nero D'avola
Exotic earthy florals with great balance make this wine a must try. Such great value. La Calla winery has been a household name in Veneto for years.
